Margrét Hugadóttir

Margrét Hugadóttir is a specialist at Landvernd and Landvernd's web-developer.

Margrét is a natural sciences teacher and designer of educational material. She finished her B.Ed. degree from the Educational University of Iceland in 2006. Her final project focused on the field of environmental and outdoor education. After her studies she designed an outside classroom in cooperation with the Forestry association of Reykjavík by Lake Elliðavatn. In 2010 she finished a M.Ed. degree in multicultural sciences from Freie Universität in Berlin. Her final project was about equality and gender in Icelandic elementary schools.

Margrét’s main interests are nature conservation, environmental issues and inquiry-based learning. In March 2016 she published the educational material “Earth in danger!?” which combines these fields of interest.

Besides nature conservation Margrét is interested in equality and works with a feminist association called “Girls rock!” (Icelandic: Stelpur rokka!) that empowers teenage girls and trans children through music and equality education. Margrét came to Landvernd after working as a natural sciences teacher in an lower secondary school for eight years. Margrét is a qualified park ranger.
