Around 5000 people participated in a green parade organised by the Green movement of Iceland (Landvernd and other nature NGO‘s) on 1st of May 2013. At the end of the parade, 1000 green flags were placed symbolically in front of the Parliament. This event was organised to encourage the newly elected members of the parliament to think green. Furthermore the parliament was reminded that it does not have the mandate to carry out controversial power plant schemes which may be very harmful for nature.
